Sometimes Asked Questions
Who are you?
I don't feel like going into "all that David Copperfield kind of crap". There is no exciting story about me. And I think it is not very important who I am in the WEB world. I am what I write. (This may be the words of Andy Warhol?)
Well, I am Japanese and living in Japan. I am a man. And I am working in the office, doing bureaucratic jobs. I've been interested in music for more than 30 years. My first idol was Marc Bolan etc. I hear this and that of many kinds of music. My writing is basically a personal feeling and thought about this and that. If you are looking for the information of particular music, don't depend on me.
Why do you write in English?
Because "it circulates." (This is the quotation of Minae Mizumura) The internet world is based on English even if you don't like it.
Why you don't make Japanese pages along with English pages?
I don't have a time to do that. I am working about 3-5 hours a week for this site. And this is enough.
When people ask me to make Japanese pages, they tend to assume that there are Japanese scripts before English scripts. But there is no such thing. So, if I make Japanese pages, I have to translate articles from English. And translation takes more time than writing in Japanese all over again. When writing in Japanese, I want to be more accurate on the nuance. Logic can be written in English, but it is hard to explain the nuance in the second language. So, my Japanese pages would be different one even if transltated from English. I don't think it is a good idea to have different versions of the site.
Anyway, I choose to write in English because it circulates.
Why can you write in English?
I've lived in the United States for two years. It was a long time ago, maybe 15 years ago. I was in Seattle, and studied at the university there. That is the reason why I can write something in English. Though my English may not be very good, I am writing to communicate. Please don't worry about small errors that non-native would make.
On the other hand, I might be writing in a too formal style. Well, I learned to write essays this way in the school. And I want my site translatable by WEB translation service. So, I have to make clear sentences.
Why do you rate music?
I like to see other people's rating. I sometimes agree and sometimes disagree with them. But it is fun to imagine other people's preferences through their rating. That's all.
I don't think I have a right to rate music. I am only rating for your fun. If you don't like rating, please ignore.
Your political writing has no solution. Don't you have an opinion?
Well, this is the site about music. So, I am basically showing my questions. And I am trying to think in various ways. There is no quick and dirty answer to the real world. (This is my opinion...)
